Biochar & zeolite

Biochar & zeolite are used for binding heavy metal contaminants in the soil or for zeolite also in the body.  In studies on different plant & grass species they each improve the growth of different plant species like grasses that have an affinity for taking up & are used to remove heavy metals from the soil.

Cardboard

Cardboard is often used by farmers on their fields to suppress weeds with little extra effort.  They can plant through little holes they make in the cardboard, and the cardboard mulches into the soil over time & is topped by a fresh layer once holes in coverage start to show.
