Guanfacine (Tenex)
Guanfacine is a drug that lowers blood pressure. It also appears effective for many for ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, autism & for aggression. People usually start on the lowest dosage (1mg extended release once a day) & increase once a week to the most effective dosage for that person (4mg extended release is usually the maximum). It appears to be most effective in children up to 12 years old. It is often given in the evening as it may increase sedation/sleepiness/fatigue at first.
